blenny #3 [54k]

This blenny appears to measure about one inch in length, and has taken up residence in an abandoned worm tube, surrounded by hard coral.  Crevices, abandoned shells, and the underside of rocks are the preferred dwellings of these interesting creatures.

Blennies may be seen alone or in small groups.  Though not quite as decorative or colorful as many other blennies, this one gave me a good view of its oversize mouth. It takes a great deal of patience and a pre-positioned camera to capture an image of a blenny emerging from its lair-- this one's curiosity finally tempted it to emerge just enough for a snapshot.

Identification: unknown (family Blenniidae)
