A small pink-colored shrimp takes comfortable refuge inside a well-worn sponge, while a less noticeable but aggressively postured crab (upper left, with outstretched chelipeds) almost seems to be moving to assault the shrimp's bunker. At left, the brilliant crimson tentacles of a comatulid crinoid represent the deepest red colors, complementing the more subtle shades of the sponge and shrimp. To give an idea of the scale of this macro landscape, the entire image is about 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) across. Identification of species: unknown
