This unusual nudibranch appears to
be an aeolid,
of the genus Phyllodesmium, but that's only an educated
guess. I couldn't find a close match to any other slugs
I'm aware of. This aeolid is only about an inch long.
Like all aeolids, the elongated cerata
on its back house the digestive glands, and near their
tips are special sacs that store undigested nematocysts
from their prey, used in defense. identification (best guess): Phyllodesmium sp.2 |
